The Newark Ohio Pride Coalition’s mission is to support, unite, and empower Licking County’s LGBTQ+ community and allies for an inclusive and equitable society through education, resources, and community.
As advocates for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility in Licking County, we're dedicated to fostering inclusivity, celebrating diversity, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. We envision a community where all members feel connected, supported, and safe.
Newark Ohio Pride Coalition has identified four essential core initiatives to help us effectively drive towards our mission of wholeheartedly supporting our community. Through our unwavering dedication to these four initiatives, we forge a meaningful path to a more inclusive, vibrant, and harmonious future for our LGBTQ+ community. Each of our carefully planned programs, engaging events, and impactful projects is strategically focused on the development and advancement of these four vital initiatives.
Building and maintaining the Harmony Hub, a comprehensive web resource highlighting inclusive businesses and resources in Licking County.
Providing resources and mentorship to local schools and GSA high school groups to support LGBTQ+ students and parents.
Continuous year-round community programming for adults and youth focusing on reading, writing, art, and creativity.
Representation visually around the community to fight against erasure through projects such as the courthouse lighting and creation of a downtown mural.
We are excited to introduce a series of dynamic programs designed to foster togetherness and creativity in our community. Over the course of 12 weeks, each program will offer six sessions that rotate throughout the year, providing opportunities for participants to connect, learn, and grow together. From exploring diverse voices in literature with Diverse Dialogues, to expressing creativity through Random Acts of Art, developing storytelling and world-building skills in Critical Success, and discovering the power of writing in Pride Pages, these programs are crafted to build a supportive community for all.
Random Acts of Art is a dynamic, pop-up art program that brings bursts of creativity and joy to the LGBTQ+ community. Through a variety of activities and styles, this group transforms everyday spaces into vibrant expressions of identity, inclusion, and celebration. Each event is designed to inspire, connect, and uplift, spreading the power of art across our community.
Pride Pages is a supportive writing group for the LGBTQ+ community, where participants can explore self-expression, learn various writing and journaling styles, and share their work with others. This program fosters creativity, builds connections, and strengthens community through the power of written words.
Critical Success is an engaging RPG program where participants learn to build safe spaces in role-playing, forge connections through character development, and explore the art of world-building. The program introduces different styles of RPG games, allowing you to discover your favorites, with dedicated sessions for immersive gameplay and community bonding.
Diverse Dialogues is an inclusive book club that explores a wide range of genres and authors with a focus on highlighting diversity. Through shared reading experiences, this group brings together voices and stories that celebrate the richness of our varied identities.
Our organization is proudly volunteer-run, with a dedicated board that invests their time and passion to enhance and uplift our community. Every program and event we offer is a testament to the commitment of volunteers who work tirelessly to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.
